Bergen County Man Indicted for Sparta Car Accident

27-year-old faces two counts of assault by auto for driving while intoxicated and injuring two people in crash, prosecutor said.

A Bergen County man who is accused of driving while intoxicated and crashing into another vehicle—injuring two people—last May in Sparta was indicted last week.

Max Bahamonde, 27, of Garfield, was indicted last Tuesday on two counts of fourth-degree assault by auto charges, the Sussex County Prosecutor's Office said.

The charges stem from a May 27, 2013 incident in Sparta when Bahamonde was allegedly intoxicated, drove through a stop sign and collided with another vehicle, injuring both occupants, the prosecutor's office said.

Bahamonde will be arraigned within the next six weeks.
