Brush Fire Burns Acre of Woods, Nobody Hurt

Tuesday night flames take two hours to extinguish, fire chief says.

Nobody was injured in a brushfire deep into the woods off Brendona Avenue late Tuesday night.

The flames, however, burned a little less than an acre of trees and brush. The cause of the fire was unclear as of Wednesday, Hopatcong Fire Chief Wade Crowley said.

"It's hard to say what started it," said Crowley, who added that though firewood was found near the blaze that the dry and windy spring could have sparked the flames.
