Underage Drunk Woman Crashed Car, Police Say

Hopatcong authorities said they were notified by a Stanhope officer.

A 20-year-old Hamburg resident was charged with multiple counts, including DWI, after the car she was driving crashed on Maxim Drive, said.

According to police, a Stanhope officer was alerted to an accident on Sparta Road while he was on duty. When he checked the area, he found a vehicle had crashed at the embankment of the hairpin curve on Maxim Drive, police said. The Stanhope officer then notified Hopatcong police.

Police said after they arrived the driver, Amanda Wise, told them she was 20 years old and had been drinking. She failed field sobriety tests, according to police.

Police said Wise was taken to headquarters and was given an alcohol test. She was charged with DWI, underage DWI, reckless driving, and failure to keep right, police said.
