Cops: Hampton Man Had Pot in Backpack

The following arrest information was supplied by the Hopatcong police department. It does not indicate a conviction.

A Hampton man had pot in his backpack, police said.

Officers Anthony Cirri and Richard Sadowski responded to a report of people smoking marijuana inside a blue Chevrolet Saturday, police said.

The car wasn't there when the officers arrived, but they spotted and stopped it driving on Divito Trail, police said. During their investigation, they found a backpack containing four smoking pipes with burned marijuana residue, a grinder with raw marijuana in it and numerous glassine bags with marijuana residue in them, police said.

The backpack belonged to 19-year-old Joseph Westley, police said.

Westley was arrested and taken to the , where he was charged with possessions of a controlled dangerous substance and possession of drug paraphernalia, police said.

He was later released, police said.
