Cops: Hopatcong Man Had Pot in Car Door

The following arrest information was supplied by the Hopatcong police department. It does not indicate a conviction.

A Hopatcong man had a marijuana cigarette in his car, said.

Officer David Kraus pulled over 26-year-old Daniel Floyd of Hopatcong for driving with a rear light out at 11:52 p.m. Friday at the Lakeside Boulevard-Brooklyn Mountain Road intersection, police said.

Kraus smelled burned marijuana emanating from the vehicle, police said. During his investigation Kraus found a rolled up piece of paper containing pot within the driver's side door, police said. Kraus, a drug-recognition expert, also found Floyd to be under the influence of marijuana while driving, police said.

Floyd was charged with possession of marijuana, driving under the influence of marijuana, driving while intoxicated, reckless driving, possession of a controlled dangerous substance in a motor vehicle and failure to maintain lamps.

Floyd was processed and released to a friend, police said.
