Cops: Hopatcong Man Robs Roxbury CVS of Pills

The following arrest information was supplied by the Roxbury police department. It does not indicate a conviction.

A Hopatcong man robbed a Ledgewood CVS of oxycontin and oxycodone early Sunday morning, Roxbury police said.

Roxbury officers responded to a report of an armed robbery of the CVS on Route 46 at about 6:55 a.m. Sunday, police said.

Witnesses told the officers that an unidentified man walked into the CVS toward the pharmacy counter, police said. Then the man approached a CVS employee with what looked like a weapon in his jacket pocket, police said.

The man forced the CVS employee to open the safe and hand over an undisclosed amount of the prescription medication, police said. The man then walked calmly out of the store, entered a Ford Mustang and drove away, police said.

A surveillance video gave officers a clear description of the man, police said. While investigating, Roxbury police was notified of a possible match of the vehicle the man was driving was seen in the Landing area, police said.

Officers responded to the vehicle, which had been involved in an accident, police said. The Mustang's driver was 28-year-old Dan O'Neill of Hopatcong, police said.

O'Neill was charged with first-degree robbery, third-degree possession of stolen property, third-degree theft and resisting arrest, police said.

O'Neil was transported to the Morris County Jail en lieu of $250,000 bail with no 10-percent option, police said.
