Cops: Man Busted for Pot in Friend's Car

The following arrest information was supplied by the Hopatcong police department. It does not indicate a conviction.

An officer found pot in a man's car, but the passenger said the drugs were his, police said.

Officer David Kraus stopped a vehicle for going over the double yellow lines on Saturday, police said. The smell of raw marijuana emanated from the car, police said.

Kraus' investigation revealed two small bags of pot in the vehicle's center console, police said. After the driver denied ownership of the drugs, Anthony D'Alesandro, 34, of Elizabeth, said the pot was his, police said. D'Alesandro also had two smoking devices used to smoke pot in his pants' pocket, police said.

D'Alesandro was arrested and taken to the , where he was charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance and possession of paraphernalia, police said.

D'Aleasandro was processed and served with his complaints, police said.
