Cops: Man Overdoses, Drives on Lawn

The following arrest information was supplied by the Hopatcong police department. It does not indicate a conviction.

A Hopatcong man didn't remember how he ended up driving onto a lawn after overdosing on prescription drugs, said.

Officer Thomas Snyder responded to Conklin Avenue for a vehicle on a lawn around 3 p.m. June 11, police said.

When Snyder arrived, he found 22-year-old Michael Broderick slumped over the steering wheel pale, sweating and with thick white saliva on the edges of his mouth, police said. Brodrick was conscious but wouldn't speak, and his pupils were constricted and wouldn't respond to light, police said.

Broderick was taken to St. Clare's Hospital in Dover by the Hopatcong ambulance squad, police said. At the hospital, Snyder asked for a blood specimen, police said.

It was found that Broderick had taken instant-release pills of roxicodone, a pain reliever, that he received from his doctor, police said.

Broderick told police he didn't know how he ended up on Conklin Avenue or even leaving his home, police said.
