Cops: Man Stole $500 from Hopatcong School

The following arrest information was supplied by the Hopatcong police department. It does not indicate a conviction.

A Wharton man stole $500 from a office, police said.

Detective Ryan Tracey investigated a report of a theft from an athletic office in the school on Feb. 29, police said. John Clemens, who worked for a fire extinguisher company, was in the room looking for a fire extinguisher, police said.

The money was reported missing from a desk drawer after Clemens had left, police said. Details of further evidence couldn't be immediately released, police said.

Clemens was charged with theft. He was processed and released, police said.
