Cops: Man Took Gifts Wrongly Sent to Him

The following arrest information was supplied by the Hopatcong police department. It does not indicate a conviction.

A Hopatcong man took Kindles and a $50 gift card wrongly sent to his home, said.

Officer Gerald Mancuso investigated a theft of mail on March 11, police said.

A woman tried sending her father a Kindle e-reader via Amazon.com to his Chincopee Avenue home in Lake Hopatcong, police said. When it didn't arrive, she complained to the website, which sent another Kindle, police said.

When that didn't arrive, either, the woman drove to a Chincopee Avenue home of the same number, but in Hopatcong, police said. At the home, the woman saw empty boxes with her father's name of them next to garbage cans outside, police said.

So she called Hopatcong police, and Mancuso went to the home and confirmed the woman's discovery, police said. Mancuso then told the juveniles at the home to tell their father, Nikolce Kocovski, who wasn't home, to contact the police department, police said.

Kocovski arrived at the department with the two Kindles, a Kindle cover and a $50 gift card that was sent to him, police said. Kocovski told police he sent the first package back to FedEx, but that it was returned to him, police said. Kocovski also told police he was holding onto the gifts in case the owner came for them, police said.

The first package was delievered in February, police said. The other was delievered in early March, police said.

Kocovski was charged with theft of property delivered by mistake. He was processed and released, police said.
