Cops: Student Smoked Pot, Returned to School

The following arrest information was supplied by the Hopatcong police department. It does not indicate a conviction.

A student left , smoked pot, and attempted returning to class, said.

A school administrator watched the juvenile leave school before first period on Monday and, when the student returned about an hour later, the administrator called him to his office, police said. The administrator said the student smelled like marijuana, police said.

Then the administrator then found unused plastic bags in the student's wallet, police said. Then, alongside another staff member, the administrator foudn a handmade pot pipe in the backseat of the student's vehicle after the student granted them permission to search it, police said. The school officials also found another empty plastic bag inside the vehicle, police said.

The student denied owning the pipe and smoking pot that morning, police said.

The juvenile was charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.
