Cops: Teen Planned to Sell Pot

The following arrest information was supplied by the Hopatcong police department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Pot was found in a 17-year-old's car after cops received a tip from his friend's mother, police said.

A mom called the around 7 p.m. Thursday, telling officers she believed her son's friend was involved with drugs and was parked outside her home, police said.

The car had left when patrols arrived, police said, but it returned a bit later. Two juvenile occupants were outside of the car, looking around, police said.

The driver, 17, was searching for his marijuana grinder, which he left on the hood of the car, police said. Officer David Kraus' later found two clear plastic baggies containing marijuana, a metal pot grinder, a black scale used to weigh the drug and multiple small blue baggies used to package it, police said.

The juvenile was arrested and taken to the department before his mother was notified, police said. The juvenile was then charged with distribution of a controlled dangerous substance, possession of paraphernalia and possession of a controlled dangerous substance in a vehicle.

The juvenile was released to his mother, police said.
