Cops: Teen Stole Grandparents' Credit Cards

The following arrest information was supplied by the Hopatcong police department. It does not indicate a conviction.

A Hopatcong teen stole her grandparents' credit cards and used them at multiple locations throughout the borough, police said.

The grandparents reported the theft of their credit cards to Hopatcong police Thursday, police said.

Officer William Sutphen went to several Hopatcong stores, observing their surveillance videos, police said. Sutphen saw the juvenile making the purchases with the credit cards matching the grandparents' statements, police said.

The 17-year-old charged $577.71 on the cards from April 27 to Wednesday, police said.

The juvenile was arrested around 6 p.m. Thursday and taken to the , police said. She was charged with theft of credit cards and using stolen credit cards.

The juvenile was processed and brought to the Morris County Juvenile Detention Facility, police said.
