'Large Amount' of Evidence Postpones Hearing for Couple Facing $15K Soccer Theft Charges

Matthew Simon, 37, and Stacey Siegel, 34, were charged with third-degree theft and conspiracy in January.

The pre-trial conference for a Hopatcong couple from a borough youth sports organization was postponed Monday after an attorney said he needed time to assess "a large amount of discovery," or evidence, from the state.

It was rescheduled for June 13.

Matthew Simon, 37, and Stacey Siegel, 34, were charged with third-degree theft and conspiracy in January. Simon's public defender, Kevin MacLaughlin, asked Superior Court Judget N. Peter Conforti for the postponment, the case's second in as many months. On April 4, Siegel's attorney, Carmen Liuzzia, was granted postponment but couldn't be reached for comment.
