Drug Paraphernalia Found in Woman's Car, Cops Say

Union Beach 20-year-old arrested on underage drinking and drug charges.

A 20-year-old South Jersey woman was arrested in Hopatcong Saturday for underage drinking and possession of pot and cocaine drug paraphernalia in her car, police said.

Susanne Ferrano, of Union Beach, was charged with possession of marijuana, possession of paraphernalia, underage drinking and driving with blood-alcohol content of .01 percent to .07 percent, reckless driving, CDS in a motor vehicle, and failure to obey a no turn on red, according to a release supplied by Lt. Thomas Kmetz.

Hopatcong Police first pulled Ferrano over when officers noticed her make a turn on red onto Maxim Drive, and then saw her driving over the double-yellow lines, Kmetz said.

Police first found a marijuana blunt and smoking pipe in the center console of Ferrano's car, Kmetz said. 

Police also found a black leather pouch under the front seat that contained six waxfolds, three of which contained a white powder suspected to be heroin, two yellow empty dime bags commonly used to package cocaine, and copper brillo, which is commonly used to filter a crack pipe, according to Kmetz.

Ferrano was also tested for a DWI after police saw signs of her being intoxicated while underage, Kmetz said.

Ferrano also had a warrant out for $750 in Jefferson, Kmetz said. He said police contacted Judge Bowkley who granted bail of $15,000 on the charges from Saturday.

Ferrano later bailed out using bail bonds, Kmetz said.
