Drunk Driver Flips Car on Front Lawn, Cops Say

Sparta resident hits four objects on same street he lives on, police report.

An allegedly drunk Sparta resident was not injured after his car struck four different objects before overturning on a neighbor's front lawn, Sgt. John-Paul Beebe said.

John Assaro, 49, was charged with driving while intoxicated, careless driving and failure to maintain a single lane of travel.

Assaro was traveling south on Hickory Trail when he lost control of the car, leaving the roadway and striking a stone wall, then a fence, glancing off an evergreen tree and ultimately striking a large boulder, forcing the car to flip over, Beebe said.
