An allegedly drunk Sparta resident was not injured after his car struck four different objects before overturning on a neighbor's front lawn, Sgt. John-Paul Beebe said.
John Assaro, 49, was charged with driving while intoxicated, careless driving and failure to maintain a single lane of travel.
Assaro was traveling south on Hickory Trail when he lost control of the car, leaving the roadway and striking a stone wall, then a fence, glancing off an evergreen tree and ultimately striking a large boulder, forcing the car to flip over, Beebe said.
When police arrived at the scene just before midnight on Friday, officers found Assaro to be under the influence of alcohol, Beebe said. Assaro, who lives on Hickory Trail, failed field sobriety tests and was arrested for driving while intoxicated, Beebe said.
