Drunk Woman Ran Over Road Sign, Police Say

Woman allegedly refused to submit to a breath test.

Police say a 42-year-old Hopatcong woman was drunk when she left the scene of an accident after she ran over a road sign early Thursday morning.

Jennifer Krip drove over the Durban Avenue-Flora Avenue street sign before leaving a trail of oil while driving to a driveway on Flora Avenue, where she parked her car at approximately 1:32 a.m., police said.

A motorist behind Krip's vehicle called police, saying he saw the incident, and then followed the car to the driveway, police said. The man alerted police to Krip's car once they arrived, according to police.

Krip was allegedly asleep behind the wheel when she was found, and then allegedly fell over during a field sobriety test. Police said she fell asleep in the car on the way to headquarters, and when she was woken up she cursed at police. Krip also allegedly would not voluntarily walk inside headquarters, and refused to give a breath sample.

Police said a trail of oil near the accident scene showed Krip's car drove over the yellow lines.
