Power Back After Pole Snaps in Northwood

Dozens of Hopatcong homes lost power Monday afternoon when a power pole fell on Lakeside Avenue.

Dozens of homes in Hopatcong's Northwood section had their power restored by around 9 p.m. Monday after a power pole snapped on Lakeside Avenue.

Outages were first reported around 3:30 p.m. Police had closed the road for several hours as Jersey Central Power & Light employees worked to restore electricity.

No Hopatcong customers are without power, according to the company's outage map. JCP&L was also reporting outages in Newton and Sandyston earlier in the afternoon.

Nobody was injured when the pole fell, police said.

While there was no official word as to why the power pole snapped, the National Weather Service had put out a warning since winds were expected to reach about 40 mph.
