Fire Chief: Thanks For Your Donations!

Mike Rahill writes letter to borough.

Editor's note: The following is from Hopatcong Fire Department Chief Mike Rahill

The Hopatcong Fire Department would like to thank all of the citizens of the borough who came to the Hudson Farm Charity Hike this year.

It was because of their generosity we were able to raise over $9,000 dollars.

Each year, the fire department operates on a borough-provided budget, which equates to only two cents per day per citizen that allows us to provide 365 days and 24 hours a day worth of fire protection.

Since the fire department is staffed with over 70 volunteers, it helps save the taxpayers an estimated 3 million dollars a year in salaries.

We look forward to next years charity hike and hope all will come out to support us once again. Currently the fire department is seeking out volunteers over the age of 18.  Training and equipment are provided free of charge to all who are accepted.

It is a great way to serve your community.
