Fire Just Misses Oil Tank on Tulsa Trail

Nobody was hurt, police say.

Nobody was hurt when a fire gouged the right side of a 333 Tulsa Trl. home Monday night, police said.

The cause of the fire has yet to be determined, Fire Marshal Rich Cook said

Hopatcong and Netcong fire departments responded to the blaze, which appeared to start in a crawl space—feet from an oil tank—just after 8 p.m., Cook said.

The homeowners were able to escape after being alerted to the fire by a Hopatcong police officer who was on patrol and spotted the fire climbing the right side of the home.

The majority of the flames were extinguished quickly, but fire inside the walls took more than an hour to put out.

It was Hopatcong's third structure fire of the year and the second of April.
