Hopatcong Man Pleads Guilty to Assaulting Corrections Officer, Child Abuse

A Hopatcong man accused of having a sexual relationship with an underage girl and assaulting a corrections officer pleaded guilty last month.

Andrew A. Laureano, 20, pleaded guilty to third-degree aggravated assault and fourth-degree child abuse.

Laureano was arrested in June for having a sexual dating relationship with a girl younger than 16, Hopatcong police said. Laureano, who was 19 when he was arrested, was charged with sexual assault and endangering the welfare of a minor.

While lodged at the Keogh-Dwyer Correctional Facility, Laureano assaulted a corrections officer, the Sussex County Prosecutor's Office said.

Laureano will be sentenced on April 4.
