Hopatcong Police Plan Drunk Driving Crackdown

From Dec. 5 to Jan. 2.

The following is from Hopatcong Police Chief John Swanson.

The State of New Jersey, Division of Highway Traffic Safety has again this year requested law enforcement agencies throughout the state to participate in the "DRIVE SOBER OR GET PULLED OVER STATEWIDE CRACKDOWN". Law enforcement officers in the Borough of Hopatcong will be cracking down on drunk drivers as part of the annual holiday season statewide campaign. The program begins on December 5, 2011 and runs through January 2, 2012.

Last year in New Jersey 168 people were killed as a result of alcohol related crashes. this number represents 30% of the 556 traffic fatalities reported in the state in 2010.
