Hopatcong Teen Killed, Grandfather Seriously Hurt in Crash

17-year-old died Tuesday evening shortly after Route 206 accident in Andover Township.

A 17-year-old Hopatcong boy was killed and two others were injured in a two-vehicle crash Tuesday evening on Route 206 in Andover Township.

Joseph Paladino was pronounced dead at Newton Medical Center shortly after the crash that occurred at about 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, according to NJ.com.

Paladino was found unconscious and unresponsive when crews arrived on the scene, according to the New Jersey Herald.

Paladino's grandfather, Rosario, was taken to Morristown Medical Center in critical condition, the report said.

Rosario Paladino, 75, of Hopatcong, crossed the double-yellow line into the northbound lanes and struck a Ford F-350 pickup, according to the report.

The driver of the truck, James E. Hoffman, 59, of Stillwater, was not seriously hurt and taken to Newton Medical Center.

The accident, which occurred near the D&E Service Center, closed Route 206 between Brighton and Limecrest roads for nearly three hours, NJ Herald reported.
