Hopatcong to Honor Police Dog in September

Borough to remember bloodhound Rosco, who died Monday, at council meeting.

Hopatcong will honor the police bloodhound at a council meeting Sept. 5 at the .

Rosco, 7, graduated the Essex County Police Acadmey Dec. 9, 2005, and then joined the Hopatcong police department.

"Rosco was popular with the children in Hopatcong," Lt. Thomas Kmetz said of Rosco, who wore badge No. 98, in a press release. "Detective [Michael] Luciani often brought Rosco to the school and to local events in Hopatcong. The Borough did not just lose a Police dog it lost a friend."
