'James Bond Gang' Members May Face 12 Years for Heists

The leader of the offshoot "James Bond Gang" that plagued Jefferson, Sparta and other towns with burglaries is facing stiff prison time for his role in the crimes.

Jerry Montgomery, the reputed head of the burglary gang, pleaded guilty last week to two 2011 burglaries, which included a high-speed chase and crash in Sparta, and to a Sparta burglary last year, according to an NJ.com report.

Montgomery, a 32-year-old Teaneck resident, faces an additional eight years in prison; he is currently serving a five-year sentence for a Somerset County burglary.

He was arrested in February 2013 with two members of his gang. Sparta police, who stopped a minivan the crew was riding in shortly after they had burglarized a Sussex County home, said they found a pillow case stuffed with $2,000 in reportedly stolen jewelry at the scene. 

Montgomery's alleged henchmen—Aasim Boone, Akeem Boone and Sean Banks—all pleaded guilty to the 2011 burglaries, according to NJ.com. The men are slated to be sentenced on Feb. 28.

Akeem Boone pleaded guilty to two counts of burglary, while his brother, Aasim Boon, faces a 12-year sentence after pleading guilty to a count of eluding police and two counts of burglary. Banks admitted to two charges of receiving stolen property and may be sentenced to up to six months in the county jail and probation, NJ.com reported.
