Man Struck By Truck at Quick Chek Remains in Critical Condition

Driver not charged after accident.

The Morris County man who was struck by a truck at Quick Chek in Hopatcong on Wednesday remains in critical condition at Morristown Medical Center, according to The Star-Ledger.

The man, 65-year-old John Puzino, of Budd Lake, is an employee of the Quick Chek on Lakeside Boulevard, the Ledger reported. Hopatcong police said Puzino had been kneeling in front of the gas pump islands next to the store entrance to change the locks on the underground gas caps at the time of the accident.

The driver of the Chevrolet 1500, a 31-year-old man from Sayreville, was not charged in the incident, as police said he did not see Puzino when he was pulling up to the gas service station.

Video surveillance footage from the pump area is under review by the Sussex County Prosecutor's Office.
