Newark Man Accused of Stealing $20K Worth of Items From Sparta Home

A Newark man who has been connected to a series of North Jersey residential burglaries has been accused of stealing $20,000 worth of jewelry and other items from a Sparta home.

Jason A. Livingston, 37, has been charged with burglary, theft and criminal mischief in connection with the May 14 incident on Signal Hill Trail, Sparta Sgt. John-Paul Beebe said.

Livingston was arrested last month in Parsippany and was found in possession of items taken from the Sparta home as well as other burglaries in the Morris County area, Beebe said.

According to Beebe, the initial investigation revealed the burglar gained access to the Signal Hill Trail home by prying open a rear window.

Several rooms in the home were found ransacked with about $20,000 worth of valuables taken, Beebe said.

The investigation revealed the burglar was Livingston, who had been arrested on July 3 in Parsippany, Beebe said.

Sparta Municipal Judge John E. Mulhern set Livingston's bail at $15,000 with no 10 percent option. Livingston is being held in the Morris County Jail and is awaiting to be transported to Sparta for arraignment.
