52-year-old struck while crossing Route 15 in Lake Hopatcong Thursday night.

A pedestrian killed on Route 15 in Lake Hopatcong Thursday night has been identified as a 52-year-old Jefferson man, police said.

Amir Khan was pronounced dead at the scene after he was struck by a 2010 Ford van driven by Marcus Cintron, 41, of Jefferson, who was traveling south on the highway near the intersection of Tierney Road, according to a report supplied by Capt. Eric Wilsusen.

Cintron, who was working for Cablevision when driving the company van, was taken to St. Clare's Hospital in Dover for a medical evaluation Wilsusen said.

Officer Justin Gjelsvik first responded to the crash at about 5:30 p.m., and was joined by Traffic Officer Det. Steve Muller who continues to investigate the incident, Wilsusen said.

The Morris County Prosecutor's Office, Morris County Sheriff’s Department and Medical Examiner’s Office, Jefferson Fire Department, Milton First Aid Squad, and NJ DOT all responded to the scene.

The crash partially closed Route 15 South for more than two hours, Wilsusen said. The investigation is still ongoing, and no charges have been filed yet, he said.

A pedestrian was also killed in Sparta Friday morning when he was struck by a garbage truck.
