Police: Man Had Heroin, Bottle of Urine

The following arrest information was supplied by the Hopatcong police department. It does not indicate a conviction.

A Hopatcong man was carrying six bags of six bags of suspected heroin and a bottle of clean urine, police said.

James Smith was charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance and with possession of a bottle of urine in an effort to defraud the administration of drug testing.

Police said officers from the state Intensive Supervision Program came to Hopatcong with a warrant to arrest Smith on Aug. 15. So Hopatcong police brought the officers to Smith's home, police said.

Smith was found in his bedroom with six white folds containing suspected heroin in his pocket, police said. Each drug fold read "fire" in orange, police said. After a search, no other drugs were found in his room, police said. But then a pat-down revealed Smith also had on him a blue bottle filled with clean urine, police said.

One of the ISP officers said Smith planned to use the clean urine to falsify a drug test, police said.
