Police: Vandals Hit Unlocked Cars

Authorities believe juveniles spray painted insides of unlocked cars.

Several unlocked cars were broken into and vandalized on Richards and Lil' Chester roads early Saturday morning, police said.

Five instances were reported and a compound hunting bow was stolen from one of the cars, Sgt. Thomas Kmetz said. He said most of the cars had spray paint over their dashboard configurations. Kmetz also said police believed the vandals were juveniles.

"People should be locking their cars all the time," Kmetz said.

Richards Road resident Brendan Kenna wasn't happy.

"I hope they catch these kids," she said. "I would ring their necks."

Rich Kufta said he first noticed his car had been broken into around 4 a.m. He was sleeping on his couch when he woke up, looked out the window and saw his car door open.

Kufta, whose mailbox was also spray painted, said when he went out again around 7 a.m. and noticed his neighbors' car doors were open, too.
