Police: Woman Drove Drunk With Open Wine Bottle

The following arrest information was supplied by the Hopatcong police department. It does not indicate a conviction.

A Hopatcong woman drove drunk with an open wine bottle in her car, police said.

Carol Yaniga was charged with driving while intoxicated, improper display of plates, failure to keep right, reckless driving, being an uninsured motorist and having an open container in a motor vehicle.

Police said they saw a car with its headlights on in the West Side United Methodist Church parking lot late June 2. Police said the car pulled away once an officer drove into the parking lot to check on the car.

Police said they followed the car up Maxim Drive, where it swerved over the double-yellow line, and pulled it over. Police said Yaniga smelled of alcohol and failed field sobriety tests. Police said an opened, partially empty wine bottle was on the passenger-side floor, partially covered by a carpet.

Police said a breath test revealed Yaniga's blood-alcohol content was .15.
