Police: Woman Stuffs Toilet, Tries Flooding Jail Cell

Hopatcong couple charged with disorderly conduct.

A Hopatcong woman tried flooding her jail cell by shoving toilet paper down its toilet and repeatedly flushing, Jefferson police said.

Emily Rivera and her husband, Eduardo, also of Hopatcong, were each charged with disorderly conduct on Sunday night. Police said Kelly Rivera, 25, was screaming in McKenna's Pub parking lot. Police said Eduardo Rivera, 24, approached officers aggressively.

But that's not all, police said.

Kelly Rivera was also charged with criminal mischief for trying to flood her cell, police said.

Both were released pending an appearance in Jefferson municipal court.
