River Styx Grill Co-Owner Heads to Court in Heroin Distribution Case

John Davieu returns to Morristown Superior Court Nov. 13 for an early disposition conference.

The co-owner of the River Styx Grill made his first appearance at Morris County Superior Court in Morristown Wednesday since his August arrest for allegedly leading a heroin distribution network, the New Jersey Herald reports.

Lake Hopatcong resident John A. Davieu, 55, was one of seven people charged after a multi-agency, six-month investigation initiated by the Hopatcong Police Department into an alleged drug network that operated throughout Morris, Essex and Sussex counties. In August, 10 bricks of heroin, six vehicles and $23,000 in alleged drug proceeds were seized after law enforcement rounded up the reputed heroin dealers.

Davieu, who was released from jail Aug. 16 after posting $150,000 bail, is accused of importing more than 1,900 individual folds of heroin into Morris County for distribution, authorities said, sometimes right from the parking lot of the River Styx Grill, which has since been put up for sale. He stepped down from his positions as president and owner of Royal Communications of Wharton, which served law enforcement agencies throughout New Jersey.
