Sparta Woman Pleads Guilty to Stealing Jewelry From Relative's Home

Carly Gallo, 22, was accused of stealing nearly $4,000 in jewelry from a Hopatcong residence to buy heroin.

A Sparta woman pleaded guilty last week to stealing jewelry from a family friend's home in Hopatcong and then selling the items to a store at the Rockaway Mall, the Sussex County Prosecutor's Office said.

Carly Gallo, 22, pleaded guilty to third-degree theft of movable property for stealing $3,900 worth of jewelry from a Cove Road residence on April 7 while the homeowners were away.

According to Hopatcong Police, Gallo entered the residence unannounced and a house-sitter saw her with jewelry, needles and empty folds of heroin. Police alleged Gallo sold the jewelry to buy more heroin.

Gallo's sentencing is scheduled for July 15.
