Thousands of Cars Burn in Jefferson Junkyard Fire

More than 20 fire companies battled blaze on School House Road Saturday night.

About 75 percent of a Jefferson auto junkyard housing more than 2,000 vehicles caught fire Saturday night on School House Road.

More than 20 fire companies battled the blaze through the night Saturday and some still remained on the scene Sunday afternoon, according to NJ.com.

The cause of the fire, which was first reported at about 7 p.m. Saturday, was not immediately known, Jefferson Police Capt. Eric Wilsusen told NJ.com. There were no injuries in the blaze except for a firefighter who slipped and broke his finger, Wilsusen said.

Bobby Sheard, chief of Budd Lake Fire Co. No. 1, posted the above video and others on his Facebook page.
