Tools, Radio Stolen From Vehicles Over Weekend

Vehicles left unlocked on Williams Trail and Vassar Trail broken into Saturday night, police say.

Tools and a radio were stolen from two vehicle burglaries over the weekend, Hopatcong Police said.

The vehicles were broken into during the overnight hours Saturday into Sunday while parked on Wiliams Trail and Vassar Trail, according to Lt. Thomas Kmetz.

Kmetz said both cars were unlocked during the time of the incident. A utility vehicle was parked on Williams Trail and various tools were stolen from two unlocked compartments, according to Kmetz.

The other compartments in the vehicle that had pad locks on them were not touched, Kmetz said.

The value of the tools was not immediately known, Kmetz said. Police are waiting for a stolen property report to be returned from the vehicle's owner, Kmetz said.

A window was open to a pickup truck parked on Vassar Trail and a $425 Alpine AM/FM/CD player radio was stolen from the dashboard, Kmetz said.

Kmetz said patrols canvassed the neighborhoods, and no one in the area said they saw or heard anything suspicious.

Police ask anyone with information to contact the police department at 973-398-5000.

people are messed up for stealing things out of cars but at the same time its the owners' own fault for not locking their cars just sayin..

Thats terrible. I parked 1 day in Dover near the old bowling place to look for a used tv stand and i left my windows opened because it was 95 in the middle of summer. When I returned some idiot stole my GPS. It was only worth $80 but it sucks to know that people like that exist. Sorry for your things stolen I hope they catch them.
