Tree Service Employee to Survey Brooklyn Mountain Road Area

Tree cutting and pruning will take place from mid-May to August near affected JCP&L lines.

A tree service worker will be in the Brooklyn Mountain Road area for the next three weeks doing preparation work for tree cutting and pruning near affected JCP&L lines, Hopatcong Police said.

Police are advising nearby residents of a "middle-aged white male with an orange reflective shirt" who is an employee of Nelson Tree Service and will be walking around Brooklyn Mountain Road and all of the cross streets.

The tree service employee will place orange and green door hangers (shown above at each of the residences. Homeowners who receive the green cards and will not need to do anything. Those who receive the orange cards need to check the appropriate box in the back of the card and place on the door to grant the service company right of way to get to a tree. There are phone numbers on the cards for anyone who has questions.

Crews will begin cutting and pruning trees in the Brooklyn Mountain Road area around May 15 until August, police said.

JCP&L customers can request the tree chips that will only be available by the truckload, which is about 10 cubic yards. The tree service company will leave the big pieces of wood on the ground for anyone to use as firewood.
