Underage Drunken Driver Crashed Into Home, Cops Say

Hopatcong man charged with two counts of driving while intoxicated.

A Hopatcong man was arrested after allegedly driving drunk and crashing his car into a home on Geneva Trail in Hopatcong, police said.

Officers responded to a call of a car that crashed into a house at 8:18 p.m. Monday, Lt. Thomas Kmetz said. When police arrived, they found a vehicle on the homeowner’s lawn with no driver or passenger, Kmetz said.

A neighbor then pointed to Michael Schikschneit, 20, walking back to the accident scene, Kmetz said. Upon questioning, Schikschneit told police he was the driver of the car, according to Kmetz.
