Christmas Gifts Stolen From Unlocked Vehicle

Xbox games, Barnes & Noble Nook taken from unlocked car early Sunday morning.

More than $200 worth of Christmas gifts were stolen from an unlocked car on Evergreen Avenue early Sunday morning, Hopatcong Police said.

Five Xbox games and a Barnes & Noble Nook valued at $219.79 were taken from the car at around 2:15 a.m., according to a report released by Lt. Thomas Kmetz.

Kmetz said a resident on Oneida Avenue called at that time stating a male was walking around, and the motion lights were activated outside her house and at a neighbor's residence.

When officers arrived, they checked the area and vehicles, but could not locate anyone, Kmetz said.

Police ask anyone with information to contact Hopatcong Police at 973-398-5000.

Kmetz urges residents to keep vehicles locked at all times, and to not leave holiday presents visible.

Is it just me or is anyone else seeing the same pattern with these thefts? Lock your cars people! You can't trust anyone, not even the raccoons, deer or squirrels. And believe me they want to get in your car more than anyone.
