VIDEO: Hopatcong's Fire Dept. Stays Sharp

Firemen familiarize themselves with Hopatcong High School, keep active.

Hopatcong High School hosts precious lives and equipment every day. So, the borough's fire department made it a point Thursday to tour some of the school's trouble areas, such as the auditorium and labs, while in full gear.

"Familiarization," fireman Wade Crowley said. "Basically, we want to get our guys a little more familiar with the school, especially the ones who didn't go to school here. The auditorium area is our concern. It can be a hazard. And not only can it be a fire hazard, but it can be an entrapment hazard. If they have something go wrong with the stage or those back rooms—that's where most of our problems will end up being."

Don't be surprised if Thursday's drill ends up on TV. Tom Peterson of Accelerant Productions was taping it to use for a pilot for True TV.
