  1. You Need to Know What Police Explorers Are: Some realize their career paths early in life. Others take a little while. For those interested at an early age at becoming police officers, Hopatcong's Police Explorers program gives them a taste of the job.
  2. You Need to Know the Requirements For Becoming an Explorer: Participants must be 14 to 20 years old; without a criminal record; have a "C" average in school; complete a sixth-month probationary period; dress sharp; attend two meetings a month and pass an oral board interview.

"We have had some leave when they realized that this was not the career for them. But that is what this program is all about. ... Without wasting much time and money this program gives the Explorer the opportunity to learn the field of Law Enforcement; To decide if that is the path he/she wants to take and at the same time learn."
