Woman Fought With Mom Before Allegedly Beating Her to Death, Report Says

Mirna Bolanos charged in the killing of her 56-year-old mother inside Flora Avenue home.

A Hopatcong woman charged with beating her mother to death with a baseball bat was in a dispute with her mom over her allegedly not taking medication for her mental illness the night before the killing, new information released from the arrest affidavit shows, according to New Jersey Herald.

Mirna Bolanos, 30, was charged with murder and unlawful possession of a weapon and is being held at the Sussex County Correctional Facility in lieu of $750,000 bail.

The body of Ligia Bolanos, 56, was discovered in the hallway of her Flora Avenue home when officers arrived at about 7 a.m. Wednesday, Lt. Thomas Kmetz said. Mirna Bolanos was outside on the front steps, Kmetz said.

Officers responded to the home after Mirna Bolanos called police and said her mother was harassing her, according to Kmetz. The phone went dead mid-conversation. When police arrived, Mirna Bolanos cooperated with police, Kmetz said.

But according to the affidavit, the mother and daughter were involved in a dispute not only the night before the incident, but several times prior.

The Herald also reported that Mirna Bolanos was covered in blood as officers approached the house just four minutes after she had called police.
