Woman Killed in Crash with Hopatcong Resident

Allamuchy woman died on scene Wednesday after crashing head-on into school bus.

The identity of a woman who died in a head-on collision with a bus owned by , of Butler, on Route 206 in Chester Township Wednesday was released by police. The woman was Shirley Cochran, 76.

Cochran was driving north in a 2005 Nissan Quest when she allegedly crossed over to the other side of the road and crashed into the bus that was heading in the other direction. The accident occurred at 2:22 p.m. There were no children on the bus at the time, police said, but the bus driver, Loan Leach, 56, of Hopatcong, and a 65-year-old passenger on the bus, Michael Polster, were transported to Morristown Medical Center by the Peapack First Aid Squad for injuries sustained in the crash.
