Cops: Man Had Pot Mailed to Home

The following arrest information was supplied by the Hopatcong police department. It does not indicate a conviction.

A Hopatcong man had almost a pound of pot from California delivered to his home, said.

United State Postal Service inspectors arrived at the Hopatcong Police Department with a package their K-9 dog identified as marijuana Tuesday, police said. The package was to be delivered to the Coolidge Trail home of 33-year-old Jason Ruggiero, police said.

With Hopatcong police officers waiting nearby, a U.S. Postal Inspector delivered the package, police said. Ruggiero signed for the package, police said. Then he was told what was suspected to be inside the package, police said.

Ruggiero let the inspector open the package in front of him, police said.

Ruggiero was arrested when the marijuana was found, police said.

Ruggiero was charged with possession of marijuana. He was processed and released, police said.
