Hopatcong needs fresh blood for the borough's Health Advisory Committee.

The borough's municipal website includes a notice of the town's call for a person to  volunteer to serve on its Health Advisory Committee. Any Hopatcong Borough resident with experience in the health care field or a related pursuit is encouraged to apply.

If you are interested in applying for the volunteer position and doing your part for a better Hopatcong, the borough asks you to contact the office of Mayor Sylvia Petillo at 973-770-1200,  option #4.

There must be some kind of grant or "free" money available that would pay at least a stipend to some one interested, especially since this was previously a paid position with benefits. Maybe the town could toss in free medical/dental or access to the town gas pump. I'm not so sure that a town reliant on volunteers to perform essential town services is on a firm foundation. How about police or teacher volunteers? That's got to save money too.

Leave the Police Dept. alone ... I will not speak about the Teachers but we are , or should be , Vol. Police . If you see something wrong , call the Police , hence the Vol. part .
