Sandy Recovery Aided By Roxbury Fire Department

Hopatcong received assistance from neighboring department on seven fires after storm.

The Hopatcong Borough Council and fire department took a few moments Wednesday to thank the Roxbury Fire Department for their assistance during Hurricane Sandy.

Hopatcong was one of the hardest-hit areas in Northern New Jersey during the storm.

Hopatcong Fire Chief Wade Crowley said the Roxbury department helped fight seven structure fires, passed out important information door-to-door during the emergency,  and covered Hopatcong fire stations during the event and especially during the services for firefighter Thomas McGuire, 76, who died Nov 4 while the borough was recovering from the storm.
