John Young Elected Borough Council President at Reorganization

The Hopatcong council's first meeting of the new year also featured the appointment of new Fire Chief Tom Brown.

The Hopatcong Borough Council is off to work for the new year, following its annual reorganization Tuesday night, according to The Alternative Press. Among its first items of business, the body held a swearing-in for its newest member, Richard Hoer, and returning Councilman Michael Francis. Next, the full council elected John Young its president.

Reorganization also featured mayor and council appointments to municipal boards and committees; new appointees are as follows:

  • Joel Servoss, Environmental Commission 2nd Alternate
  • Justin Lijo, Land Use Board 4th Alternate
  • Ida Brown, Joanne Curtin Members, Senior Advisory Committee
  • Ambulance Squad Capt, Rita Russomanno, Member, Emergency Management Council
