Town Budget Up for Approval Wednesday Night

Council looks to pass along $16.556 million spending plan.

The April 3 meeting of Hopatcong’s Mayor and Council is an important one, as residents will have the opportunity to tell the governing body its thoughts on the 2013 municipal budget.

The meeting, scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m., will have a public hearing on the proposed budget, and the council will subsequently vote on the spending plan.

That plan, as proposed by the council in March, calls for a $16.556 million overall budget, with a tax levy of $12.4 million.

The agenda also shows the introduction of an ordinance that would appropriate $570,000 in bonds for capital improvement projects in 2013. Another bond ordinance to be introduced would appropriate $237,500 for water utility improvements.

The meeting is open to the public at 111 River Styx Road and residents are encouraged to attend.
