Hopatcong, Sparta Schools Closed for Storm

Hurricane Sandy also causes cancellation of Hopatcong BOE meeting and all school-related programs.

Hopatcong schools will be closed "for the duration of the severe weather," according to an alert posted on the district website on Sunday.

All programs are also suspended until further notice, the alert said.

The Hopatcong Board of Education meeting on Monday has been postponed until Thursday, and will be held in the high school cafeteria.

All Sparta schools will be closed on Monday and Tuesday, according to the district website.

It hasn't been announced yet if Monday night's Sparta Board of Education meeting is postponed.

Hurricane Sandy is expected to produce more than 4 inches of rain in the area over the next several days.
