Hopatcong Schools Closed Through The Week

High school remains open for shelter.

All Hopatcong Borough schools will remain closed through the week due to the lasting impacts of Tropical Storm Sandy, according to the police.

Police said Hopatcong High School will remain open as a shelter with cots for people to sleep in.

Residents are asked to bring their own linens. Showers, minimal food, laptops, and electric to charge cell phones are available.

The shelter has been open since 11 p.m. Monday night in the wake of the storm, and since then .

About 20 volunteers from Hopatcong's CERT Team have been helping out at the shelter. The Red Cross donated over 60 cots, food, and toiletries on Tuesday.
